John Cornyn said he hasn\u2019t received an update from the Justice Department on his and Sen. Thom Tillis\u2019 demand that the \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund be formally killed before they vote in favor of advancing Blanche\u2019s nomination.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Both Republicans sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is scheduled to vote Thursday morning on whether to move forward on Blanche\u2019s nomination. Without their backing, the vote will fail.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cThey\u2019ve been kind of radio silent for the last 24 hours,\u201d Cornyn said of the DOJ. \u201cI think my staff is talking to them, but we\u2019re not \u2014 they know what they need to do. They just don\u2019t want to do it.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Blanche has insisted that the \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund \u2014 a controversial pool of money set aside to award people who claim to have been wronged by the Justice Department, including possibly January 6, 2021, rioters \u2014 is no longer happening.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing earlier this month, the acting attorney general insisted bluntly that \u201cthe weaponization fund is dead,\u201d and said that the tax addendum \u2014 which is the only part of the agreement between Trump\u2019s personal attorneys and the Justice Department that still stands \u2014 \u201cbinds only the IRS and by extension the Treasury\u201d from investigating the president for potential crimes, not other agencies. The administration had also previously asserted in a court filing that it had abandoned the \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund.\n    <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=7479\">\u2018A moment in time\u2019: Fossil footprints shed new light on the extinct \u2018Nutcracker Man\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n            But the two GOP senators have sought more assurances, including a written adjustment to the settlement agreement, according to Politico.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            On Tuesday, Cornyn raised the possibility of postponing the committee vote until the issue of the fund is sorted out. \u201cThat\u2019s being discussed. That\u2019s being discussed, but hopefully it won\u2019t be necessary,\u201d the Texas Republican said, though he noted that he hasn\u2019t discussed the idea with Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley yet.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            The $1.8 billion fund has been controversial from the start, upending other Senate priorities as critics said it amounted to a slush fund to allow the president to pay out his supporters with taxpayer money. And even while the administration sought to convince lawmakers it was dead, Trump had refused himself to do so, exacerbating tensions on Capitol Hill.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Last week, Cornyn had said that he didn\u2019t expect Grassley to postpone the vote. However, as the vote gets closer, that may change.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            If the votes aren\u2019t there to confirm him, Cornyn said Thursday, \u201cthen Sen. Grassley might decide to postpone it.
