What parents should know about it"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>\n            As the use of artificial intelligence continues to proliferate, AI-generated sexual content is already impacting teenagers.\n    <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=6692\">House Democrats launch investigation into whether Jeffrey Epstein acted as a foreign agent<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n            Nearly 75% of teens have seen online pornography and more than half are encountering this type of content as early as age 12, according to new research from Common Sense Media.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            The survey of more than 1,300 teens ages 13 to 17 showed that almost half of teens reported seeing sexual content they believed to be AI-generated.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Content created with generative AI, or gen AI, tools can include fake nude images and videos; deepfakes; and content from nudification tools and apps, which allow a user to generate a fake image that depicts people as undressed.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            While the findings about teens and their exposure to sexual content have remained relatively consistent since Common Sense Media\u2019s 2023 report, teens\u2019 access to content has significantly changed over the past three years.\n    <\/p>\n<div>\n<header>\n<span>\n      Related article\n    <\/span>\n<\/header>\n<section>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"GettyImages-1471497389.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-6697\" height=\"144\" src=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3d852c63fb2bb8d4a01fbf5ef491f2e1.jpg\" width=\"256\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<figcaption>RoxiRosita\/Moment RF\/Getty Images<\/figcaption>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\n<span>You haven\u2019t been enforcing rules to manage your kid\u2019s screen time. How to change that now<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<div>5  min read<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            \u201cThat\u2019s what I really think makes this notably distinct,\u201d said lead study author Dr. Supreet Mann, director of research at Common Sense Media. \u201cWhat we\u2019re talking about is not \u2018commercial or curated pornography.\u2019 We\u2019re talking about things that are removing the agency and stripping people of their ability to control their image.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<h2>\n        AI is making sexual content easily accessible\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n            Oftentimes, teens encounter AI-generated sexual images of celebrities, but nudification tools are now exposing teens to sexual content of their peers.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Nearly 20% of survey participantshave created AI-generated sexual content themselves or know someone who has done so, and more thanhalf say it depicted someone they knew, the organization\u2019s researchers said.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cWhat we are seeing here is the emergence of a very specific and what I would call increasingly frictionless space that allows young people access and exploration in ways that are largely unfiltered and unregulated,\u201d Mann said.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Nudification apps are easily available with the click of a button.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Of the 44% of teens who viewed sexual content they believed to be AI-generated, 15% said they came across them via an AI app that made or modified photos and videos.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Even though regulations apply to what\u2019s allowed in app stores, these apps can sometimes slip through by not advertising the full range of their capabilities, said Riana Pfefferkorn, a policy fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cThere\u2019s plenty of research showing that the \u2018whack-a-mole\u2019 job that app stores and social media platforms are doing hasn\u2019t really been enough to keep up,\u201d said Pfefferkorn, who was not involved in the new research.\n    <\/p>\n<div>\n<header>\n<span>\n      STREAMING NOW\n    <\/span>\n<\/header>\n<section>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"TOS_thumb.png\" class=\"wp-image-6698\" height=\"144\" src=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/c34d932e4973fe88e6ef7d3324792d0f.png\" width=\"256\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<figcaption>CNN<\/figcaption>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\n<span>More young people are using AI chatbots. Is it safe?<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<h2>\n        How is this affecting teens?\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n            Many teens were rethinking how they presented themselves on social media, Mann found.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Almost 70% of teens were worried about being a victim of AI-generated sexual content without their consent. But diet information may be a big risk<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<div>6  min read<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n            Nearly 70% of teens think AI-generated sexual content affects how they view what their bodies should look like. This is especially concerning, considering teenagers are at a time in life when their bodies are changing constantly and rapidly, Mann said.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cIt\u2019s impacting the ways that young people are thinking about really important foundational elements of the teen experience, like consent and romantic relationships,\u201d she added.\n    <\/p>\n<h2>\n        More than a teen issue\n<\/h2>\n<p>\n            More than one-third of teens said they would like to talk to an adult about AI-generated sexual content, but they don\u2019t know where to begin.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            For families, this can feel like entering unfamiliar terrain. How do you start conversations about something you don\u2019t fully understand?\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Common Sense Media advises parents \ufeffand guardians to have supportive conversations with their children that start with consent, health and sexual identity. This gives a solid base to work from before approaching the technology of it all.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Younger teens were more likely to feel comfortable talking to their parents compared with older teens, theresearch findingsalso suggested. Starting these conversations early may be a good way to raise awareness about AI-generated sexual contentlater on.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Parents and guardians should have open and ongoing conversations, rather than one big conversation, according to Mann. This makes it increasingly concerning that teens are almost as likely to feel comfortable talking to an AI chatbot compared with a school counselor or teacher,according to the new research.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Education officials must navigate dealingwith these scenarios while not involving themselves in situations that technically happen off-campus. But when two students are interacting with one another, Pfefferkorn noted that implies some level of institutional responsibility.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cThere is a role for schools, for parents and families, for even talking to your other friends and for platforms and policymakers,\u201d Pfefferkorn said. \u201cThis is really a society issue rather than something that kids ought to be left to their own devices to try and deal with.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n    Get inspired by a weekly roundup on living well, made simple.
