Rogan asked if Vance was more surprised by the so-called armbars or by fighter Josh Hokit referring to the former first lady as a man during his victory remarks at the White House.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cDefinitely the armbar part,\u201d Vance responded. \u201cI work in politics. People say crazy stuff all the time, man.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Rogan pushed back on the vice president, noting the context was different for an event hosted at the White House. He added that Hokit makes similar remarks as part of a persona he has cultivated.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cHe\u2019s a very good fighter, first of all, but sometimes it\u2019s not enough to get attention,\u201d Rogan said. \u201cWhat Josh has done is created this persona, like this pro wrestling bad-guy persona.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cAgain, not the best thing to say at the White House. \u2018Michelle Obama is a man\u2019 is not the best thing to say,\u201d he added.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cFair,\u201d Vance replied. \u201cBut the reaction to it to me was still totally disproportionate.\u201d He later continued that \u201cpeople lost their minds about it.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            He brought up comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who opened a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden in October 2024 with a set replete with racial tropes, including calling Puerto Rico a \u201cfloating pile of garbage.\u201d At the time, even many Trump allies criticized the joke.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Vance said people had similarly overreacted to those remarks. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018He told a joke,\u2019 and the person\u2019s response is, \u2018Well, it\u2019s not a very funny joke.\u2019 And my response to that is, \u2018You know, what happens when somebody tells me a joke that\u2019s not funny? Vance demurred, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t know, man.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Hokit made the false and offensive comment while thanking President Donald Trump after his victory at the White House-hosted UFC event, saying, \u201cAnd lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            The comment drew criticism, including from some Trump supporters who had defended the White House-hosted event \u2014 which was billed as part of the administration\u2019s celebration of America\u2019s 250th anniversary.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            UFC CEO and President Dana White called the remark \u201cnasty and false,\u201d dismissing it as \u201cnonsense.\u201d The White House did not follow suit. In response to an inquiry from CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper about Hokit\u2019s comments, White House communications director Steven Cheung said the UFC fighter \u201chad a great win last night. He showed toughness and the ability to pressure his opponent both on his feet and on the ground.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Trump himself has ridiculed Obama.
