And the political pressure is clearly building on him to find a way out, with the 2026 midterms approaching and the war \u2014 and its economic impacts \u2014 looking like a growing albatross for Republican candidates.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            It took a while, but the GOP\u2019s Iran hawks now appear worried that Trump is indeed too anxious to end the war \u2014 and is about to cave.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            A procession of them has spoken out over the last two days as we\u2019ve gotten what appear to be the first genuine glimpses of a deal to gradually end the war.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            While much remains to be ironed out \u2014 and some details are in dispute \u2014 recent versions of a memorandum of understanding would end hostilities while gradually reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the US blockade in the area. The deal would include the unfreezing of some Iranian assets, and Tehran would also be allowed to resume selling fuel and oil.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            The proposed agreement also includes a commitment by Iran to not pursue a nuclear weapon and to begin negotiations over giving up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            But the specifics that have leaked come up far short of what Trump initially set out for. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and others who had been influential supporters of the war, but Wicker crystallized it.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            And by Saturday, with news breaking that a deal could be afoot, the panic broke out into the open.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\nGraham said that allowing the precedent that Iran could control the Strait of Hormuz and threaten its neighbors\u2019 oil infrastructure would be \u201ca major shift of the balance of power in the region and over time will be a nightmare for Israel.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            He also said worried that such a deal would empower Iran\u2019s proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas to terrorize the region.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Wicker said the proposed deal would mean that \u201ceverything accomplished by Operation Epic Fury would be for naught!\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said he was \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d about what he was hearing and that he \u201cprayed\u201d reports were wrong.\n    <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=43\">A \u2018vegan\u2019 and \u2018Tala-freak-o\u2019: GOP prepares a furious general election messaging blitz against Talarico<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cIf the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime \u2014 still run by Islamists who chant \u2018death to America\u2019 \u2014 now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium &amp; develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake,\u201d Cruz said.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Commentators like Fox News\u2019 Mark Levin were also uneasy, with Levin responding to an Israeli report that Trump officials are anxious to cut a deal by saying, \u201cHouston, I think there may be a problem.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Even some key administration officials from Trump\u2019s first term got in on the act.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said Sunday it appeared \u201cthe ayatollahs will have won a significant victory.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Fellow former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who is more of a MAGA adherent, pleaded with Trump on Sunday not to believe Iran. Stop trying to undermine the President and his administration.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            (Cruz shot back that \u201cyoung political grifters pushing Iran appeasement are not remotely helping the President.\u201d)\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is in India, offered a less confrontational version of the same talking point, saying Trump\u2019s commitment to stopping a nuclear Iran \u201cshouldn\u2019t be questioned by anybody.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Rubio called it \u201cabsurd\u201d to think Trump\u2019s deal might leave Iran in a stronger position.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Trump pushed back against criticism of the potential deal Sunday, writing on Truth Social, \u201cDon\u2019t listen to the losers, who are critical about something they know nothing about.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            But it\u2019s abundantly clear that Trump and his negotiators are in a bad spot. They talked about how this war would last around a month, and we\u2019re coming up on three. What\u2019s more, Iran hasn\u2019t demonstrated it\u2019s swayed by Trump\u2019s repeated threats and bluffs.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            That has effectively left Trump to either resume striking militarily (which he clearly doesn\u2019t want to do) or to turn this into a war of attrition, where we see who blinks in the face of economic pain caused by the dual gambits in the Strait of Hormuz.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            But getting out of this war isn\u2019t easy, either.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            While Trump\u2019s base has proved malleable over the years \u2014 often going along with whatever he decides \u2014 this is the kind of issue that really matters to a significant chunk of his supporters.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Trump began the war by alienating one part of his party \u2014 the anti-interventionist wing. But now he\u2019s risking alienating the other side \u2014 the foreign policy hawks who thought they suddenly had a committed ally in the White House.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            These Iran-hawk Trump allies see this as a real opportunity to end the threat in the region \u2014 an opportunity that might not come along again any time soon.
