{"id":1105,"date":"2026-05-29T20:07:51","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:07:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=1105"},"modified":"2026-05-29T20:07:51","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:07:51","slug":"judge-says-trump-cant-add-his-name-to-kennedy-center-and-blocks-planned-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=1105","title":{"rendered":"Judge says Trump can\u2019t add his name to Kennedy Center and blocks planned closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>\n            A federal judge on Friday blocked the Kennedy Center from temporarily closing its doors for a yearslong renovation and said its board violated the law when it added President Donald Trump\u2019s name to the historic performing arts venue.\n    <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/relocationtimess.com\/?p=1101\">Troops to get free tickets to White House UFC event, but must meet weight standards<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n            US District Judge Casey Cooper concluded that the law establishing the center \u201cmakes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board\u2019s unilateral say-so.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            \u201cCongress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,\u201d Cooper wrote in his 94-page opinion.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            Within two weeks, Cooper ruled, officials must remove any signage from the Kennedy Center that includes Trump\u2019s name and update its website to remove all references to the name \u201cTrump Kennedy Center\u201d or the \u201cDonald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n            He said the center was permanently blocked from \u201cdisplaying, installing, or maintaining any physical or digital signage on the Kennedy Center building or grounds that designates, suggests, or implies that the institution is named for any person other than President John F.
