President Donald Trump says he wouldn’t object to temporarily withdrawing Todd Blanche as his nominee for attorney general amid resistance from two Republican senators.

Trump said he would then renominate Blanche after Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina have left the Senate in the new year.
“I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Cornyn shot back in a post on X: “POTUS is mistaken if he believes concerns about the provisions in his tax lawsuit settlement are limited to me and Senator Tillis.”

He called Blanche, who’s currently serving as acting attorney general, a “STAR,” and said he “has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time.”
Trump then unleashed harsh criticism of Cornyn and Tillis, who have refused to back Blanche in a weeks-long battle with the administration over its controversial $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund.
“John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee, who will remain, in any event, as Acting,” the president wrote. “Remember, both Cornyn and Tillis voted for Merrick Garland, and others, too numerous to mention.”
